Baby shower ideas and decorations requires a crucial plan for the perfect baby shower for the expectant mother so that the event goes on without being boring and allows the guests to have a fantastic, memorable time.
Prior to planning the shower sit down with the mother-to-be and have a good conversation with her to get insight on what her interests are and if she has baby clothing or equipment and find out what kind of personality she has. If the woman likes to talk, she may like to have a group discussion rather that playing games but the right games can be so much fun. Discover if she is a traditional woman and would like baby gifts or if she would like personal gifts. Some women love personal gifts especially if they have almost everything they need for her new baby. This will give you information that you need for baby shower ideas and decorations. If she is practical, you may want to encourage her to register at a gift registry if she wants gifts that she can use.
Once you start brainstorming on the ideas that the Mom has, get the personal touch going and put the ideas into play. You will want this to be as personal for her so it doesn’t become a typical baby shower. Get on the phone and get more input from your friends, family, and attendees on baby shower ideas and decorations. You’ll never know, you could become in demand for the perfect baby shower hostess!
If you are in charge of planning a baby shower selecting the right time for the event will usually happen 4 - 6 weeks prior to the delivery of the baby or within the last trimester. Don’t plan your time too close to the baby’s due date because it might be risky if the baby comes early. Check out a good day when the mom-to-be has a big belly so that the games that are played can be fun and exciting and full of laughter, such as playing the game of “Don’t Cross Your Legs” unless of course it is a surprise shower. Don’t plan it too early, it won’t be as much fun.
You will need to have a location for the shower, depending on the budget you have to work with and how many people you think will attend. You could rent out a place, use a church or if it is in nice weather have it in a park if the attendance is going to be a large one or have it in someone’s home which is the tradition where most of the baby showers are these days given the budget most people have to work with. The home of the hostess is typically where the event will occur.
Prepare a list of people that the expectant mother would like to invite and get the invites out early so the attendees can schedule the exciting day. Next, after a list of invites has been prepared, contact the individuals to get a few extra baby shower ideas and decorations that they would like to see. You can’t fulfill everyone’s ideas for this but you will have an added bonus when you use some of them at the shower.
Decorating can be as simple as baby-themed plates and napkins to hand-made items such as centerpieces or hand stitched teddy bears. Baby items and flowers will also add to decorating the room. If you don’t have the time to make such hand-made items, you can purchase decorations at your local party supply store. One of the neatest decorations I have seen was a cardboard cake pattern about 16 inches around with two tiers and the cake was surrounded by rolled up newborn diapers to look like the frosting. The diapers were held together with rubber bands. Not only was this a conversation piece but very useful to the new mother-to-be.
Party favors for the guests are a way of thanking them for coming, anything from a nice box of candies to more expensive gifts is a nice way of saying thank you. Don’t forget small items as prizes for the winners of the games. They can be purchased or hand-made also. Usually they might be baby items that the guests give to the expectant mother so she can use them such as hand covers for baby, or pacifiers.
As you can see, baby shower ideas and decorations can be very simple. With good recipes, venues and themes you can make it an event with the personality of the new mother-to-be and you could become the new baby shower hostess of the year.
